Writing in a silent room is proven to be an effective way to improve one’s writing. It doesn’t have to be an enclosed room so long as it is a spot where your student can be comfortable and write with no distractions.
- Be a role model.
Children tend to follow how adults work. Let your student observe you writing a piece. Be a good role model and show encouragement when you are writing as well. Let them know the importance of writing in your life. You can let them know that having great writing skills can better help them in their professional lives in the future by showing how to write business letters and whatnots.
- Let them discover their passion.
Students can freely write more if they know and love what they are writing. Connect with them and ask them what they love. If they are interested in books, encourage them to write a summary or a reaction to the book they are reading. If they like video games, try to let them write something about it.
